In a rare and deeply moving artistic creation, “Sufi on Wheels” emerges as a powerful dance-theatre production that blends mysticism, poetry, music, and inclusive performance, redefining the way spiritual narratives are experienced on stage.
Conceptualised, directed, choreographed, and designed by National Award-winning Guru Syed Sallauddin Pasha, Sufi on Wheels is an evocative artistic tribute to the birth of Sufism, inspired by the timeless relationship between the legendary mystic Jalaluddin Rumi and his spiritual master Shamsudeen Tabrizi.
A Spiritual Story Told Through Movement
Set against the cultural and spiritual backdrop of Istanbul, the production unfolds as a poetic narrative expressed through classical dance performed by artists with disabilities on wheelchairs. The work transcends physical limitations, using movement as a universal language to communicate devotion, surrender, and inner transformation—the core philosophy of Sufism.
The production’s soul-stirring music is composed by internationally acclaimed musician Latif Bolat, whose compositions in Persian and English form the emotional foundation of the performance.
