Dr. Padmini Shreedhar

Padmini Shreedhar, an artiste of Bharathanatya of Karnataka Nritya Parampara (Kolar Sampradaya), has had a fruitful artistic journey of 4 decades in the field of dance. Central Govt Junior Fellowship Awardee (2007-2009) and Senior Fellowship awardee (2017-2019) ICCR empanelled and an auditioned graded artiste of Doordarshan, teacher, choreographer, organizer, Padmini was one the leading performing artistes of Karnataka who had carved a niche for herself in the 80s and 90s.
Padmini Shreedhar, since 2008 has been an ardent academic student and a dance research scholar. Presently is a facultymember at the historic Natya Institute of Kathak and Choreography. She is UGC-NET qualified and is employed as Asst. Professor (guest Faculty member) for post graduate students at the JAIN University. As part of her MPhildissertation, Padmini has revisited, revived and reconstructed the Vasantotsava dances of the medieval Vijayanagarperiod. She has recently been awarded her doctorate for her doctoral thesis on a comparative study of classical dance compositions of Thanjavur and Mysore traditions at the REVA University under the able guidance of Dr. VidyaShimladka.
Padmini is the artistic director of NrityaGaana Academy for performing arts, Rajarajeshwarinagar, Bengaluru and thetreasurer of Rajarajeshwarinagar Cultural Association. She is the recipient of awards – The coveted ‘Singaramani’ award, Sur Singar Samsad, (Mumbai -1989); ISKCON Appreciation award (2003,2004); Bharatha Prashasthi’ (Udupi-2016) and Nritya Nidhi (2018) Udupi.
She has been featured in the prestigious ‘Ananya’ Kalasinchana magazine as the dance icon.
